Who   We   Are

Park Stewardship Through the Arts (PASTA) is an affiliate organization of the Community Foundation Serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, a non-profit, community corporation dedicated to strengthening their communities by meeting the needs and enhancing the lives of individuals in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties in partnership with philanthropic individuals, community leaders, and the nonprofit sector.

Under the leadership of Tim Terrell, Joshua Tree National Park established an art program, Park Stewardship Through The Arts. The program is multifaceted and embraces the following objectives: To promote and encourage artists of the highest possible caliber and art institutions to explore the natural and cultural resources of Joshua Tree National Park as a means of inspiration for creating artwork.

Through the artwork produced at Joshua Tree National Park artists can communicate to the public the essential values of the park, its beauty, uniqueness, fragilty and priceless value, which can result in the public sharing in the caring for and preserving of the park and its resources.

PASTA's outstanding Artist-In-Residence program, Twenty-four Hours Photographing Joshua Tree National Park program, and a Poetry Workshop in conjunction with Joshua Tree National Park's Desert Institute, are the principal programs of Park Stewardship Through The Arts.

To date, three exibitions in New York City have featured the artwork produced through the Artist-In-Residence program, over five hundred photographers have participated in the Twenty-four Hours Photographing Joshua Tree National Park program, and several mid-career poets have published work through the Poetry Workshop.
